Course Description

 

 

Transitiona Courses – Select when appropriate

 

IT transition courses will be assigned during orientation and ongoing advising. Waiver of transition courses can be obtained by already taking equivalent courses and by examination as appropriate.

 

·       IT5103 Data Management and Security

Course examines aspects of data management and security in an IT organization.  DB design, development, management and concepts of security are covered. Team project.

 

·       IT5203 Networks and Platforms

This course covers the fundamentals of operating systems and data communications.

 

·       IT5303 Introduction to Programming and Web Development

Course examines aspects of programming and web development appropriate for an IT organization.  Program design, development, management and programming languages are covered. Team web development project.

 

Required Courses – All Five Required – 15 Hours

 

·IT 6203 IT Design Studio 3 hours

Covers technologies and methods of designing and prototyping an IT application from multiple sub-system components.  Major projects included.

 

·IT 6423 IT System Acquisition and Integration 3 hours

Covers methods and best practices of assessing business needs, functional requirements and value for IT system acquisition and integration.  Major project included.

 

·IT6413 IT Service Delivery 3 hours

Covers existing and emerging standards for IT service delivery, including ITIL and EAMM.  Major project included.

 

·IT 6823 Information Security Concepts and Administration 3 hours

This course will examine aspects of how the law affects an IT operation.  Topics such as contract law, internet law, privacy and security will be discussed.
